Listeriosis is a particularly virulent food borne illness, that is particularly dangerous to children, the elderly, people with compromised immune systems and especially pregnant women. Symptoms of Listeriosis can include anything from fever and muscle aches to stomach cramps, nausea and severe diarrhea. Often, the symptoms will face away in less than a week, but sometimes the infection will spread to the nervous system, which can lead to neurological symptoms ranging from a headache or a stiff neck to a loss of balance, confusion and even convulsions.
Pregnant women are especially at risk, not so much to the woman as to the fetus, which can be stillborn, or be born with a serious Listeriosis infection soon after birth, which can include symptoms such as lack of appetite, fever, irritability and vomiting.
If you have some of these products, be sure to follow the recall and return them to the store immediately. If you show signs or symptoms of illness, see a doctor. If you or a loved one has become sick, and you suspect food contamination to be the cause, contact the Texas Food Poisoning Injury Lawyers at Hill Law Firm as soon as possible so you can protect your rights.
