Karnes County Wreck Kills Four: Major Accident in Texas Involved Three Vehicles

Hill Law Firm’s Blog continues to highlight the need for changes in safety practices and hiring in and around the Eagle Ford Shale to slow the number of terrible accidents.  Another accident in Karnes County, Texas is a reminder of the dangers present in South Texas.  According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, four people were killed and another injured this morning in Karnes County, Texas after a serious accident involving an large tractor-trailer, a passenger car and a motorcycle.

The accident happened at a little after 3 a.m. on Highway 72, near the town of Kenedy, Texas which is located about 50 miles from San Antonio. According to troopers on the scene, the car and the motorcycle were following behind the truck, when the truck’s driver stopped to make a left turn. The motorcyclist was able to lay the bike down and avoided hitting the truck, but the car slammed into it, killing the four male passengers inside. The motorcyclist was also injured, but the injuries aren’t believed to be life threatening.

Police are currently investigating the possibility that alcohol was involved in the accident. According to police on the scene, the car passengers and the motorcyclist were all oilfield workers, and they had been at a bar earlier that evening. No additional details were provided immediately.

This horrible accident has undoubtedly changed the lives of several families. While the details of this accident have yet to be investigated, there are a lot of questions that need to be asked.
